Surin Beach

Beaches Near Sansuri

Whilst not directly on a beach, Sansuri is ideally located between two of the most popular family beaches on the Andaman Sea coast of Phuket.

Surin Beach

Situated around a 17 minute walk from Sansuri, Surin Beach is a beautiful small beach with street food vendors, golden sand and aqua blue waters.

You can get some reasonably good waves for body boarding in dry season, though it can be a bit choppy and unsafe to swim in if its wet season. Several spots on the beach are life guard patrolled.

Its possible to take a tuk tuk back up the hill to Sansuri, the journey will be less than 5 minutes. You can negotiate to around 150-200 bht.

Bang Tao Beach

The gorgeous 4km long Bang Tao beach which you can see from the apartment takes a little more work to get to as there’s no direct road. You can reach the southern most end in around 22 minutes walk.

This southern area offers several beach cafes and beach clubs, though the water here is a little more flat and murky at times. The beach can disappear at high tide making it impossible to navigate past these bars at high tide, so your best entry point is at Best Western.

We highly recommend getting a Bolt/Grab from Sansuri and head a little further along Bang Tao Beach – we have marked on the map here a few drop off points you can try.

The area near Golden Fish Restaurant/Beach Pig has more casual dining options and good waves plus water sports, cheap beach massages etc.

Some of the nicest soft sand and good waves are found in the Laguna area, though this is also the busiest area of the beach, dominated by SAii Laguna Resort, Dusit Thani and Angsana Laguna Phuket.

If you head north of this area, towards Layan Beach you can easily find wide stretches of sand all to yourselves. Check tide times and heights if you want to catch some small waves. Lifeguards do not patrol this stretch, you need to go up as far as Layan for this.

Laem Singh Beach

This one is a little more tricky to get to, but well worth putting in the effort to find it! Inaccessible by road, you will need to head to Surin Beach, turn left and look for the orange speed boat that shuttles passengers around the headland. Expect to pay 200 THB return per person.

This is the best spot locally to grab the snorkels and explore the marine life among the rocks. There are few facilities here but seasonally a restaurant View Point operates on the hill side (bring some water shoes if you have them as its a little rocky on the climb).

Find a complete guide to accessing Laem Singh hidden beach here!

Kamala Beach

Sitting immediately to the south of Surin Beach and Laem Singh, Kamala Beach is a favourite of ours with a long palm-tree lined footpath along the beach front, water sports and lovely calm waters most of the year.

It is slightly more shallow than the other beaches, so great for smaller kids and sand castle building with plenty of shade, but not so good for wave jumping and body boards.

Don’t forget your beach supplies!

We have plenty of the basics you need for a great time at the beach in our condo that you can use. We have you covered with beach towels, beach mat, sand toys, balls, frisbees, shovels that you can use, plus some sunscreen and hats if you’ve forgotten anything.

We only ask that if anything is broken/lost you replace it – pretty much everything has been purchased from the beachfront in Phuket!

Please wash down feet/toys etc, in the shower area next to the communal pool on level 1 before coming back up to the condo, thank you.
